About Dr. Larry Jones
A trusted leadership voice, experienced public administrator and author.
Dr. Larry Jones is an organizational leader, entrepreneur, author and public administrator with more than 40 years of experience across the public and private sectors. His career has placed him in positions where decisions carried real consequences for employees, organizations and the communities they served.
Over the years, Dr. Jones has led teams, operated businesses and served in both elected and appointed public leadership roles. His professional experience has taught him that the most difficult leadership problems are rarely caused by strategy alone. More often, they begin when communication weakens, trust starts to fade and people who need to work together become divided by tension or misunderstanding.
His academic background strengthened the lessons he had already learned through experience. Dr. Jones holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Public Administration. His studies focused on organizational behavior, leadership dynamics and the relationships that influence workplace performance.
Those experiences became the foundation of his book, You Can’t Lead From Sideways: Why Alignment, Not Authority, Determines and Drives Leadership Success. The book examines how ego, frustration, silence and unresolved conflict can quietly pull leaders away from the people they are responsible for leading. It also offers practical guidance for reopening conversation, rebuilding trust and restoring a clear sense of shared direction.
Dr. Larry jones writes for executives, managers, supervisors, public officials, business owners and anyone entrusted with leading others. His work is especially relevant for leaders navigating strained relationships, organizational change, difficult conversations or teams that appear cooperative but have stopped contributing honestly.
Based in Florida, Dr. Jones continues to advise organizations and support leaders who want to build cultures shaped by accountability, respect and shared responsibility. His faith remains
